Anime review: Darker Than Black! #1

Please let me explain how my reviews will work; the Anime's will be rated based of their: StorylineCharacters, Art/Animation, English Dub(some anime's) and Music!

Name: Darker Then Black
Episodes: 25
Genre: Action, Drama, Sci-Fi and Mystery!
Type: TV Series!
English subbed and dubbed!

Plot Synopsis:

Storyline: 4.25/5
The story is based around the main character Hei/BK-201 who is in search for his long-lost sister, Pai! Hei is a paid contractor working for the underground organization known as The Syndicate - Hei is assigned to work along side a doll known as Yin, the leader of their group who calls the shots, Huang, and the other contractor known as Mao. During the time of making a living as a normal civilian in Tokyo, Hei digs out information concerning anyone who was present during the event 10 years ago, known as Heaven's Gate! During his quest and objective, Hei isn't your ordinary contractor. He doesn't understand why the world has to be so cursed and hopes to change it! Overall conclusion: The story teaches us the bond between family, and the length of proportions you go through for them. It also shows us how messed our world we live in can be, that we won't get it how we want it, but we can try and get it to how we morally and ethically think the world should be! For these reasons, my rating is 8.5! Great lessons and a good story!

Characters: 5/5
The charters you seem to encounter mainly, during this anime, have their own story and reason behind the decisions they are making, they're not just thrown in because "they want to do it". Other characters(the minor one's), play a small part in the events occurring in DTB, simply amazing. Overall conclusion: The writer did an absolute brilliant job dealing with the characters! Dealing with their personal life to why some are with the Syndicate and why some do what they're doing! It's written beautifully. Even the minor characters play a role. It may not seem that way a first, but giving that all away would be pointless and less obvious!

Art/Animation/Voice: 4.75/5
The design of the city, the Contractors ability, the design, everything, was simply nailed! The dubbed version of this Anime was done quite well. All the voices matched the characters well and the tones and pitches during the argumentative times and such where nailed to be perfectly honest! However at times, they seemed slow and didn't look legit, but I hardly noticed it throughout, so it's not irritating at all.

Music/Voicing: 5/5
The piano compositions and theme's are great fitting into the atmosphere of every single episodes. To your general drama, to them moments where you need a tissue(to cry...). Once again, it's nailed!

Overall rating!: 9.25/10!
This is the sort of anime that keeps you on your toes, keeps you thinking, what's going to happen, what's Hei going to do next, where's Yin? The drama and action is perfectly balanced out, doesn't go over each over at all! It's perfectly written, doesn't get side-tracked, no none-sense, it's straight up to the point and it's a beautiful Anime. Would you want to buy this on DVD?;  I would personally, yes! But for now, watched the subbed and dubbed version at Animefreak for free!
